  • Excellent dining experience! We started with the French onion soup - delicious! The braised short rib with mashed potatoes and green beans was outstanding. The serving was so generous that I ended up taking a large portion home. Of course we had to try a dessert so we ordered the chocolate mousse cake. It was good but not stellar. The service and atmosphere was fantastic with live music playing in the front room. Out table was further back and more quiet. I will definitely return when I'm back in town.

  • I have been eating at this lovely restaurant since I first moved to Savannah in twenty o'seven. It was the first restaurant I ate at in Savannah and I just dined there, again- October 8th and the ambience, quality and service was as impeccable as the first time I dined there. The service is elegant, the staff is lovely~ first class. I love white linen table clothes and napkins and fine silverware and gorgeous white plates that accentuate the presentation of the food, the food stands alone. I entertained two friends and this is what we got. An order of the fried green tomatoes with a remoulade tomato sauce and chèvre. It comes with a cheesy grits- amazing. I found out you can add crab, however we did not. All three of us thought the dish was the best we've ever had. We followed that up with oysters on the half shell with a lovely mignonette and a side of horseradish. Sumptuous. Each of us sighed with nearly every bite. It's that good. One of my friends got the pan seared sea scallops- with a parmesan risotto, lemon herb cream sauce & truffle oil. Divine. My other friend got the special that evening which was sea bass topped with a peach glaze served on risotto with asparagus. I tasted it and the pan sear on the fish was perfection, the fish was moist and tender, it broke nicely in large chunks. I got the jumbo lump crab cakes which were nearly one hundred percent lump crab. It was served with traditional parmesan risotto and topped with a divine mustard cream sauce, Milanese style with asparagus. Yum. I had a lovely Bombay Sapphire martini up, rocks and olives on the side. The martini was super chilled and paired so well with dinner- oh, I forgot- they also served some of the best dainty cheese biscuits I've ever had in my life with a honey butter. Fantastic. My friends got a lovely bottle of Pinot Noir and the entire evening was relaxed, elegant and lovely. For dessert we got a trio of desserts with peaches~ creamy cheese cake topped with a peach glaze, a peach ice cream and a peach cobbler- amazing. Don't miss dessert. Vic's on the River~ This is where memories are made. I have never had a bad meal here, and the meals I've had are outrageously over the top. Make sure you make your dinner reservation at least a half hour early because you will really need to study the menu as every single item on the menu sounds fabulous. When we arrived we were seated promptly. Our server's name was Cher and I tipped her fifty bucks because she was and is thee best server I have ever had in my life. She really loves her job, the restaurant and the food and ambience of the city~ she was so incredible that she made the evening sparkle. Love to all of you, Steve

  • Filet was good but lacked in seasoning. A little salt & pepper & good to go. Shrimp and grits were good but not Acme Low Country Kitchen good (Isle of Palms, SC) IYKYK. Service was good and the cocktails we got were great. Must try the lemon blueberry martini! Overall a good dinner and miserably full! Oh … and didn’t get a pic but the crab cake appetizer was to die for!

  • Vic’s on the River was outstanding! I started with the Riesling Pear Salad, which was light, flavorful, and beautifully presented. My lunch entrée was the seared scallops—perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. My husband enjoyed the Caesar salad and the Blackened Seafood Alfredo, and everything was fresh and tasty. Our waiter, Rick, was wonderful—attentive, friendly, and thoughtful. He even brought me the bottle of delicious Riesling so I could photograph it for a future purchase. We loved everything about this place and can’t wait to return@

  • We were lucky to walk in and get a cozy table in the bar area without reservations. Our server was friendly and attentive. The biscuits and honey butter were delicious. I ordered the salmon dish. The outside had a perfect crisp while keeping the inside moist and perfectly cooked. Hubby loved the smash burger.

  • We decided on Vic's as a last minute reservation for our anniversary. We made our reservation on Thursday night for a 5 pm Friday dinner and our options at that point were 5 pm, or after 8:45. We had no issues getting our reservation in and while seating was a little tricky (they don't start seating until 5, we showed up at 4:55, and we were finally seated at 5:10), it was fast and efficient at the end. The food was incredible. The serving staff was amazing. The vibe of the place was exactly what we wanted. We'd added "Anniversary" to our reservation and every single person we interacted with wished us happy anniversary and I have never had any restaurant pay attention to that note and it was just a little something extra. The fried green tomatoes are to die for. The drinks were incredible. The biscuits were fluffy and the honey butter was perfect. I got the salmon and my husband got the short ribs and I don't know how much we actually talked once the food came out because we were too busy eating. 10/10 experience, food, ambiance, staff, everything. I definitely look forward to coming back the next time we're in Savannah.

  • One of the few places on the riverfront that locals actually eat, according to local tour guides. The portions, preparation, presentation, and quality were all up to standard. You won’t regret eating here, but it is very pricey. The French onion soup and Caesar salad made for great starters, the latter was a true Caesar, with anchovies. The former did replace the traditional Gruyère with provolone, I don’t feel like it reduced the quality, but if you’re a purist, take note. The entrees were all great, but the braised short rib stood out as particularly good. The value for money ($28) on such a well prepared and large piece of meat is worth considering when choosing your meal. The staff was attentive, but there were also plenty of people on shift to handle the crowd, which has become rare and to the detriment of the broader service industry.

  • We'd been wandering along the Riverside and happened upon this place around lunchtime. The place met our needs since there were five of us plus two small dogs and the outside section suited, even if we did have a short wait. Not surprisingly there was a larger proportion of fish dishes and some very interesting starters. I absolutely loved the meat loaf though the special, grouper and grits was perhaps less well rated by the two who had it. No problems with the drinks, I can certainly recommend the Scofflaw Atlanta IPA, and the Wild Leap and Wicked Weed were also well received. The main indoor section of the restaurant was very smart and it was easy to see why this place is popular. We loved Chereece, our server. She was a real character and our dogs were made welcome.
